Dealing with mould and mildew is an absolute nightmare! It seems as though it’s impossible to get rid of and no matter how hard you are trying – it always comes back.

I did a lot of research and I came to a conclusion – I needed to use vinegar!

Here is what I did!

In a spray bottle, I mixed two cups of white vinegar, a teaspoon of tea tree oil, and 10 drops of lavender essential oil.

I would spray the mould and mildew directly with this mixture.

Not everyone would want to use bleach so a great alternative is vinegar. Soak your sponges in a bowl filled with white vinegar and leave them there for a few hours. You can even leave them overnight!

Then squeeze out the vinegar and rinse very well!

Allow your dishwasher to do all of your work!

Yes, you can place your sponges in the dishwasher! The hot water and the detergent will do a great job in cleaning and disinfecting.

You can even throw them in the washing machine!

How to clean your rug on your own?

Before we start I need to say one thing – be careful when cleaning your rug because it is made out of very delicate fabric which can easily be damaged!

– Allow the rug to air-dry completely. This step requires patience since it might take a day or two.

Just think about it – why would you clean your floor first and then dust off your kitchen table? All of the impurities that are sitting on the surface of that table will fall straight to the floor you just cleaned!

Change air filters on a regular basis

You always need to make sure that your air filters are functioning properly because otherwise they will get clogged with all sorts of debris, dirt, and dust.

Usually, it is recommended that they last anywhere between a month to three months.

Place an entrance mat

Probably the smartest way to reduce the amount of dirt and dust in your home is to simply use an entrance mat. In fact, I recommend you even have two – one outside the front door and one inside the front door.

That way they will be able to catch the dirt and dust on your shoes without you bringing them into your home.

And make sure you clean and vacuum them often.

Change your sheets often

Do you know the amount of dust that your sheets are absorbing? That is why you need to change them at least once a week!
