Small rugs need to be cleaned just as often as carpets. They tend to attract a lot of dirt, dust, and impurities as well as germs which is why I highly recommend you deep clean them at least once every two months – and vacuum them on regular basis! That way you will reduce the amounts of impurities that go deep all the way to the base as well as get in the way of all those germs from breeding.
Thankfully, cleaning a small rug is extremely easy – and today, I will show you how to do it!
How To Easily Deep Clean A Small Rug?
Start off with vacuuming both the top and the bottom of the rug.
Then it’s time to make our DIY carpet cleaner which will deep clean the rug. Mix a cup of vinegar, a tablespoon and a half of your laundry detergent, and a cup of water in a bowl.
Grab a sponge, soak it in the cleaner and start gently scrubbing the rug. Since it’s small, it won’t take too long! Focus on any dirty patches and stains.
Once you are done, you need to rinse the rug. I usually take it outside and spray it with my hose, however, if you cannot do that then you can rinse it with your showerhead.
Then I recommend you take it outside so it can air-dry. If the weather is sunny then even better because it will dry way easier.
Once your rug is completely dry, you can sprinkle some baking soda on top and let the powder sit for a few hours. That way, any bad odour will be removed and the rug will be refreshed. Finally, vacuum the rug to get rid of the baking soda – and that’s everything you need to do to deep clean your rug!
